FAQs

HOW SHOULD I LOOK AFTER MY JEWELLERY ?

Sterling silver jewellery when exposed to the air will tarnish over time.  Tarnishing is caused by a chemical reaction between the silver and oxygen, moisture, sulfides and chlorides in the air. To keep jewellery in good condition occasionally use a soft cloth or silver dip to clean it and store it in a box with a tarnish free pad. 14ct yellow gold and rose gold pieces should not be overly polished as this will eventually start to remove the surface colour. Due to the delicacy of some pieces it is advisable to remove jewellery when showering and swimming and, where possible, try to avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes and creams which can damage the finish.

WHAT IS 14ct GOLD FILLED ?

Gold filled comprises a solid layer of gold (14ct) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th the weight of the total item. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear can last between 10-30 years! The gold will not peel or flake , unlike gold plated jewellery, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold.
