Lindsay McDonagh is a Bristol (UK) based painter and printmaker. As a member of the 'Drawn in Bristol' collective, Lindsay works from her art studio in Hamilton House located in central Bristol. She has exhibited artwork at various venus around Bristol, Bath, Devon and Oxford, including The Royal West of England Academy of Arts Open Autumn Exhibition and the Bath Society of Artist Open Exhibition. Lindsay has been shortlisted for The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition and also had her design work published by an American greeting cards company, Calypso Cards and Woodmansterne.
Lindsay works with a variety of material and mediums including watercolour, relief and intaligo print. Her inspiration is drawn from nature, in particular mammals and birds. Through detailed observation of animals she interested in vividly capturing their texture, pattern and colour. Her compositions focus on shape and form to understand the physical appearance and behaviour of wild animals.
A keen photographer she has traveled to many locations including in Japan, India, East Asia, Europe, Morocco, North America and the Caribbean and takes inspiration from nature, Asian design, worldwide motifs and objects. After taking Art Foundation Studies at the University of Central England Birmingham, Lindsay went on to take a BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture at Nottingham Trent University. Following her graduation in 2005 she gained a Master of Arts from Kingston University, London.
